Scientists brought tubers of several types of wild and cultivated potatoes from an expedition to Peru in the twenties of the last century. The history of the creation of the variety

Employees of the State Scientific Institution of the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Potato Farming. A.G. Lorkha engaged in research work on the creation of qualitatively new varieties of potatoes based on new molecular genetic methods.

The result of scientific and technical activities was the Azart potato variety, bred by selection.

The work was carried out in the experimental farm of the institute, located in the p / o Korenevo, Lyubertsy district, Moscow region.

Characteristics and features of the variety

Potatoes Azart, which is described below, refers to medium early varieties of table use, the time from planting to ripening is 80-90 days. Adapts to any soil and climate of the area where potato cultivation is possible; contains up to 20% solids. The yield is high. It tolerates short waterlogging well.

These are Seraphim potatoes, the description of the variety of which has much in common with the Azart potatoes. Unlike the first, Seraphim's potatoes, created for Siberia, the Far East and the Urals, ripen earlier - in 60-70 days. It is resistant to nematodes, contains more starch - 14-18%, the mass of tubers is slightly more - up to 147 g.

Potato Orlak, the description of the variety indicates a higher starch content, compared to the considered one, - 16-21%, the yield is at the same level - 300-500 c / ha, but has a weak resistance to scab.

Woland potatoes are a mid-season variety, similar in properties to Azart potatoes, but have a significant biological value due to their high protein and vitamin C content - about 30%.
